Ofloxacin

Drug class: Fluoroquinolones

• A broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, active against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

• Ofloxacin 400 mg (twice-daily) is as effective as once-daily oral sparfloxacin 200 mg (after initial O00 mg dose) in patients with acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis (ABECB). 

• Effective and well-tolerated in the treatment of laparoscopically proven pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). 

• Effective, well-tolerated, and cost-effective for the prevention of post-operative UTIs.
